Khalid Abbas Bashir

Khalid Abbas Bashir came to England when he was four years old in 1964. Until he was in his twenties, there were not many South Asian families in Rochdale. Drawing from these feelings of isolation, he aims to connect and reconnect members of the community through local group activities that helped break barriers for himself years ago.

Khalid Abbas also seeks to improve mental and physical health issues in the community by arranging group activities from swimming to cricket to communal lunches. His late father’s diagnosis with dementia and his own battle with kidney failure motivated him to help others and raise awareness of health issues. His projects aim to reconnect and reenergise the older generation in Rochdale.
