YASEEN

On January 1972 Yaseen came across a letter written in Pahari, a Kashmiri language.

It had been written in 1930 by his Great Uncle.

In it he'd had recorded his experiences of working on the steamships as a sailor.

The letters were written in a certain way and would be sung by the person reading it....as demonstrated by Shams

REMINISCING

The next wave of migration began from the 1950s onwards

when Kashmiris

migrated to the UK from the 1950s to help with the labour shortage.

AKRAM

Akram remembers the time he came to the UK.

The aeroplane was full of other children.

Like him.... they were also travelling alone to join their fathers who’d migrated to Britain.
