Mufti Saab is the regular guest in Crescent Radio’s Question and Answer show every Sunday; where listeners can ask for religious guidance on various topics. Using his extensive knowledge on the Qur’an, A-Hadith and Sunnah of the Prophet, Mufti Saab is able to direct live callers regarding the Shariah and Islamic jurisprudence.

 

Noaman Hayee

Gup Shup: Thurs 7-9pm

One of Crescent’s most unique shows, Noman’s Gup Shup unleashes his one-in-a-million personality on Rochdale. A local businessman by profession, Noman brings the everyday topics he sees effecting people throughout Rochdale, to the airwaves in his own inimitable style. Mixing in a bit of masala and hand picked tracks that have both social and cultural meaning.

 

Humera Haqqani

Razia Shamim

A Karachi born mother of 4 and a successful entrepreneur, Humera brings with her a wealth of experience. With a background in Pakistan, Holland and the UK, Humera is a trilingual homemaker with a special interest in Pakistani politics and Islamic history.

She presents Crescent NewsRound every Friday morning, keeping you up-to-date with Pakistani political affairs. Humera is also a driving instructor and spends her spare time reading books and writing poetry. She also enjoys playing badminton, swimming and hosting dinner parties.

Abdur Rehman Hussain

Light upon Light: Saturdays 3-6pm

 One of Crescent Radio’s many multi-talented team members, Abdur Rehman Hussain is a keen sportsman, indulging in cricket and football in his spare time.

As well as this, he manages to find time to present some of Crescent’s most popular shows. Light Upon Light includes a mix of everything from riddles to Islamic teachings. Regular features include Al-Akhira, translation of the Qur’an, Tilawah as well as thoughts and reflections.

He also co-presents the Youth Show every Thursday night from 7pm alongside Rahat and Nafisa Saddique as well as Tuesday and Wednesday’s Drive Time, which showcases your requests and dedications, alongside dedicated weather and traffic updates.

 

Heena Jabeen

One of Crescent’s most regular voices.

Heena is an avid film and television addict. She is currently studying her final year as a Beautician and in her spare time she looks after her family and enjoys reading and writing poetry.

The Mix Masala – containing a mixture of Naats, Nasheeds, requests, cultural discussions, recipies, household and beauty tips, as well as help on ESoL and Life in the UK, there is really something for everyone.

Afzal Naqshabandi

The Madni Aaqa Naat Show: Mon 7-9pm

Afzal Naqshabandi

Afzal has come up through the ranks of Crescent Radio being a former Naat Competition winner in the early years. He now hosts the Naat Competition himself as well as hosting the weekly Madni Aaqa Naat Show, which showcases hidden talent from the streets of Rochdale.

Local Naat Khwaans are encouraged to call in and recite praises to the Almighty and his Last Prophet live on air.

 

Haji Farooq and Hafiz Rafaqat Ahmad

Roshni: Sun 7-9pm

Haji Farooq & Hafiz Rafaqat

Hafiz Rafaqat Ahmad and Haji Farooq present Roshni; Crescent’s Mirpuri programme, every Sunday night, with live recitals in Potwhari by local artists. Hosted fantastically by this dynamic duo, Roshni is a wonderful show which reaches out to Rochdale’s strong Mirpuri community giving them the opportunity to enjoy a show in their mother tongue.

Norman is a widely published poet and writer with vast experience as a broadcaster at  Sherwood Community Radio and Radio Country Music Europe.  He has also appeared regularly on BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC GMR and has worked for BBCtv as a judge on the Off By Heart series.

He runs his own organisation, called Just Poets, delivering creative writing and multi-arts initiatives into the education sector, as well as into health and well being. He facilitates Touchstones Creative Writing Group and is a trustee of The Community Voluntary Sector in Rochdale as well as a board member of Spiral Dance.  Norman is also a writer in residence at Falinge Park High School.

Steve is a big jazz fan and has his own weekly jazz show on FCUMRadio and guests on Jazz Train at All(FM)Manchester as well as co-presenting on all across the arts.

Steve has experience in community broadcasting, recording live music events as well as sound editing for radio and audio CD production.He is also a Board member of Petrus and the Rochdale Legal Advice Project.

no picA renowned Urdu poet with many books under her belt, Saba Nusrat brings you a soothing and chilled out late night poetry show.

Sab Rang is your laid back journey through the annals of Urdu Shayari and Ghazals served up in Saba’s own dulcet tones, enough to soothe away the worries of a hard day at work.

 

Razia Shamim MBE

Age Concern: Wed 10am-1pm

no picRazia Shamim has worked in the heart of the Rochdale community for over thirty years and she’s still going strong. With all the pep and energy of a teenager, Razia presents the Age Concern show every Wednesday afternoon opposite Baji Shafqat.

The ladies bring you a mixed bag full to the brim with natural home remedies, news and interviews on the latest local and national initiatives as well as Shafqat’s very own tried and tested recipes.

 

 

Nafisa and Rahat Siddique

Kids Korner: Sat 9am-12pm

Community Health Show: Thurs 10am-1pm

Phullan dey Rang: Wed 9-11pm

no picA local man with a keen interest in both current affairs and Pakistani culture, Afzal has managed to combine both of these loves into one at Crescent Radio.

Thursday nights sees him present the Urdu language Crescent Khabarnama from 6pm, bringing the people of Rochdale bang up to date with the latest goings on here in the UK, in South Asia and around the world.

Whereas Wednesday nights he brings you Phullan dey Rang, Afzal Punjabi dey sang! A fantastically eclectic show bringing you all the colours of the Punjab.

Join Dr Musharraf and Br Dobir for this exciting new Bangla language show. Dr Musharraf Hussain is a GP by profession and an active community worker serving the people of Rochdale for over 30 years.  Dobir Miah is self employed and a very active Youth & Community worker.  The Boishakhi Bangla programme caters for the Bangladeshi community in Rochdale & beyond.  It features all aspects of Bangla music, naat, nasheeds, culture, traditions as well as news & interactive debates on current affairs, community issues as well as act as a information point on local issues.  A fun packed, light hearted programme for all – not to be missed!
