Mohammed Sheraz

Mohammed Sheraz is a key figure in Rochdale known for his work supporting young people and co-founding the organisation ‘Army of Kindness’.

In 1999 Mohammed Sheraz helped to raise money for the flooding disaster in Bangladesh whilst he was volunteering with the Kashmir Youth Project. This experience inspired him to jump into community work and he undertook a diploma in youth and community development. In 2001 Mohammed Sheraz was employed by Rochdale Council as a youth worker and since then has dedicated his career to empowering the young people of Rochdale.

On top of youth work, Sheraz supports those in need in the community. Army of Kindness was set up following the 2015 floods in Rochdale. Beginning as temporary support for displaced families, the organisation soon established itself as a permanent provision that offers food, shelter and resources for struggling families in Rochdale.
